Premise and Mechanics

...To attend the last danse. You've woken up in a strange bed with the invitation in hand. There's no name attached. Rather, the signature reads: "Your gracious hosts". Likewise, where it came from or how you got here also seems to be quite the mystery. Looking around, you find yourself in a luxurious room. You're not alone in it, either-- although they all seem to be just as puzzled as you are, carrying the same invitations. Any amenities you could need are provided somewhere in the mansion said room is attached to, including clothes that seem as though they belong in a ballroom, set up for each person in their rooms. The ballroom itself, however, appears to be locked at the moment...

As for why you're here, well... Next to the doors of the ballroom is a set of rules, listed elegantly. The final rule may give you some ideas, given that it states that to leave you need only survive the temptations of this place--and those temptations are simply to die for.

Or perhaps... to kill for.

Mechanics

So, The Last Danse is a murdergame PSL. How it works is that murder is largely volunteer basis. There will be a screened post where you contact the mods, letting us know that your character is ready to kill. Unless you've already worked out with someone a plot for this, then you'll give us a list of characters your character might target and we'll contact the other person to see if they're up for it. This allows the mystery of whodunnit to remain. From there, we'll work on the case, then launch it on a Friday morning. However, unlike the big, game-with-AC counterparts, the investigations will go on until all evidence is gathered. Then the "trial" phase will commence, which will allow you plenty of time to debate. You'll get roughly a week or until a character calls the vote (although you can ICly argue the vote being called if you feel something is up--so long as your hosts themselves don't call it).

Voting wrong won't end the game, or even necessarily lock you out from a bad ending (although if you leave only people, like, Hazama from Blazblue, Alucard from Hellsing, and various others like them alive, well, we can't make any promises), although your characters will have to deal with voting someone innocent right into an execution. Speaking of, there will be personalized executions and we will work with you on them. So have fun with that.

If there aren't enough volunteers for one slot, we'll RNG it. You get a single opt-out of an RNG roll, and after that you only get a reschedule if that week isn't good for OOC reasons. This is so we don't stalemate on things and everything keeps on rolling with the death. We will always prioritize volunteers before rolls.

Powers are inaccessible unless otherwise noted. They may be granted back with a motive or as a prize. Really strong powers will be nerfed in these cases so as not to break the game, but will still be strong enough to still have fun with. Exceptions are made on a case-to-case basis for those who require some level of their powers to function and/or communicate. Just ask us and we'll work with you if it's a "need to function" thing.

Endgame will happen when there's around a specific number of people left alive. It's up to these people to then solve the final mystery of this place and present their case at the final trial. Actions taken by the survivor will determine the ending. Only the mods know, although we will announce when we've reached the number of survivors to trigger this and close down murders.
